Carnatic music is one of the oldest systems of music that is associated with the southern part of Indian Subcontinent.  Carnatic music  in its current form can be traced back to the 18th century.  Shri Purandara Dasa, the father of  Carnatic music laid the foundation for teaching carnatic music in its current form.  Great contributions from music trinity, Shri Tyagaraja, Shri Muthuswamy Dikshitar and Shri Syama Sastry helped it gain popularity and patronage.

Bharatanatyam is a classical dance that originated in the temples of Tamilnadu, India. The quartet of Chinnayya Pillai, Ponniah Pillai, Sivanandam Pillai and Vadivelu Pillai made rich contributions to Bharata Natyam and brought it into its present form.
